SUNDANCE - FROM AFAR
It's been six years since I had gone to Sundance, and more than a year and ahalf since I wrote my last blog. A lot has gone o n in the meantime. I've gone from late middle age to early old age. The last time I went to Sundance was the last year of the old state film office. This year, a new one was created while I was there. But, to mark the passage of time, I enjoyed Sundance from the perspective of Salt Lake City, only i/2 hour away (plus searching for parking), where I avoided colder weather, deeper snow piles, long lines and incessant networking, and gained access to films and had no problems with lines or parking. In many ways, approaching Sundance from this perspective helpd me to understand my own transition from someone who was actively involved in programming film festivals to the grey eminence or holy spirit that works with festival programmers. It comes with age. And,I enjoyed Sundance more than ever.
I think I'm back to (almost) daily blogging.
there will be more on Sundance, more on the state of things in New England, and more personally, from the perspective of someone who is no longer building a career, but is still dedicated to helping others build their own career.
